The Ripple Effect: The lasting impact of teachers’ efforts in seemingly small moments outside the classroom

After college, Greg spent a year as a substitute teacher. One year turned into seven. Along the way, he started a mentoring program and a foundation. For his efforts, he has received honors like the Jefferson Award for Public Service and has been featured by media like Education Week and Good Morning America.  The book, The First Thirty, looks at Greg’s efforts to help students beyond the classroom. It also looks back at his own experiences as a student and the people who sparked his desire to make a difference. It was NSDLC Multicultural Relations Book of the Year.
