Joan Soppe: “Vignettes”
November 8, 2018Mills Gallery presents “Vignettes,” a solo show of artists’ books by Joan Soppe.
Through her use of nontraditional materials and book-making techniques, Joan brings new and sometimes unexpected reflections on daily life.
Joan focuses on one-of-a-kind and small-editioned artists’ books which use handmade papers, letterpress and intaglio as the foundation of my work, while metal, glass, found objects and collage techniques enhance and further define the intent. Much of the work is concerned with women’s lives.
Soppe’s books are held in many private and public collections, including The Minneapolis Institute of Arts in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
