Get Involved with Service-learning

Through service-learning, Central students connect service activities with their classroom learning experiences.

Students from:

  • Spanish classes hone language skills while assisting Latino families prepare immigration forms.
  • Exercise science classes work with athletes with disabilities.
  • Psychology classes work with child and adolescent development programs.
  • Education classes work with homeless youth outreach programs.

Become an ACE (Advocate for Community Engagement)

ACEs are student workers whoe serve as liaisons between Central College faculty, students and our non-profit community partners. They prepare service-learners to participate at their sites, field questions from students and from their community agencies, encourage students to participate in service-learning and provide feedback to the PLACES office.

Qualifications:

  • Eligible for federal work-study.
  • Willing to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
  • Willing to commit to working the entire academic year.
  • A previous service-learner.
