Seminar 10/12/11: Cracking WEP – Why Your Wireless Network Probably Isn’t Safe, Donnie McMahan

Since the introduction of IEEE 802.11 in 1999 and the rapid proliferation of WiFi throughout the 2000s, wireless security has become an increasing concern for both homeowners and corporations. Networks can now be infiltrated remotely and anonymously. We attempt to express the risks of ineffective security measures by demonstrating how to crack a WEP-secured wireless network.
