Meet the Pros Nov 13
October 23, 2012Sixteen alumni from a variety of academic majors will be in the Graham Banquet Room 11:00am – 12:30pm on Tuesday, November 13, to discuss career opportunities related to a wide range of government services. Participating alumni include:
- Bernadette Allen, 1978, French major. Foreign Service Office, US Dept. of State, and former US Ambassador to the Republic of Niger.
- Janice Jensen, 1979, Home Economics major. Financial Processing Supervisor for Vocational Rehabilitation—great for students thinking about finance or accounting
- Jane Mild, 1986, Communications/Theatre, UNI. Human Resources for the Iowa Dept. of Natural Resources, the go-to person for environmental internships.
- Janet Thompson, 1991, Business Management. Human Resources work for the Social Security Administration.
- Kate Pine, 1992, Philosophy. Software Trainer for the courts system; now teaches job readiness for Iowa Workforce Development.
- Scott Peasley, 1995, Spanish major. Special Agent with the Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
- Jarret Heil, 2003, Business Management. Marshall County Treasurer, Marshalltown. Jarret also worked on staff for Senator Grassley and Congressman Latham.
- Andrea Rich, 2005, Sociology, Psychology. Submits research proposals for faculty and staff at Iowa State University, including those seeking federal funding.
- Stephanie Yeoman, 2005, Spanish. Child/Dependent Adult Protective Assessment Worker for the Iowa Dept. of Human Services.
- Stephanie Petchulat, 2006, Spanish. Probation/parole officer for the state of Iowa.
- Jenny Hessetline, 2006, Political Science. Administrative Services Director for the City of Pella.
- Rachel Bohen, 2006, Exercise Science. Physical Therapist, Veterans Affairs Healthcare, Iowa City.
- Phil Jeneary, 2007, Political Science. Account Associate for LS2group, a government and public affairs firm.
- Lindee Jeneary, 2008, Spanish and International Studies. Spanish-select Caseworker, for the Iowa Dept. of Human Services.
- Emilie Gerdes, 2008, Environmental Science. Environmental Specialist in water pollution, DNR, Macon, MO. Also worked in city and county public works and engineering departments.
- Jenae Jenison, 2011, Communication Studies. Deputy Communications Director for Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds.
