Hardware Recommendations
Central College recommends that all students bring a computer to campus; preferably a laptop. While there are many computer labs on campus, your academic work will be enhanced if you have a computer of your own. Central has a number of hardware recommendations for student computers. More info
Discount Options
Many online retailers offer education discounts on hardware and software. It may be beneficial to examine these discount options prior to purchasing a new computer or software. More info
Microsoft Office Suite and Windows
Students are eligible for free copies of Microsoft Office for Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 or Mac OS X upgrade software. Faculty and staff members pay a small fee. Free downloads are available in the Central College Web Store – or for a small fee, you may order a physical Microsoft Office or Windows installation disc (the ITS Help Desk no longer distributes physical copies).
Note: These downloads are exclusively reserved for Central College users. You must sign in with your user ID and password to access the download.

Antivirus Software
All computers must have a valid antivirus program that is configured to receive daily updates. Central College recommends antivirus software for students and employees to use. More info
