Gerhard Nollen: Discovering a Dutch Master in Pella

Gerhard Nollen (1830-1901), came to Iowa from the Netherlands in the 1850s. He worked as a portrait painter in Pella and Keokuk. The Pella Historical Society owns many of his works and they have undergone restoration recently.  His largest and most famous work is “Dream of Arcadia” which is owned by the Iowa Historical Society.

This exhibit is done in conjunction with the Pella Historical Society.
