Amy Haney

March 20, 2024

The exhibition, Aviate, featuring the work of Amy Haney is exhibited in the Mills Gallery from March 4 – April 12 with a reception for the artist at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 11.

“I incorporate birds, insects and animals into my work. I enjoy the personalities that come across with their postures, gestures, colors and shapes,” Haney says. “I find birds to be an interesting subject matter because everyone has a connection to them in nature, as an icon or spiritually. Working in various formats and printmaking processes allows me to explore multiple ways of representing my subject matter. Woodcuts visually lend themselves toward commanding and bold images, while intaglio looks delicate and, at times, intimate.”

Haney earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ringling College of Art, a Master of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute and a master’s degree in art history from Prescott College. She has experience teaching printmaking and watercolor in the Omaha Metropolitan area. With work displayed in the San Francisco Bay area, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, Microsoft Corporation and the University of Wyoming Art Museum, Haney has exhibited her art all over the country. She is represented at Anderson O’Brien Fine Art in Omaha, Nebraska.
