Seminar 10/21/09: Cloud Computing: A Case Study, Manoj Aryal

October 21, 2009

Cloud Computing is the idea that computing will be delivered as a service over the internet from vast data centers, commonly referred to as “cloud”. It represents a big shift in computing paradigm as more and more user data is stored online and accessed via a simple browser, thus rendering the type of local machine used to access that data almost useless. As a part of this presentation, I will look at a typical architecture of a cloud, using GrepTheWeb service as a case study, go over what it means for computing in general and discuss future implications.
