The grounds department at Central is responsible for 222 acres of maintainable area that is divided into four different areas:
•Campus grounds – 50 acres including academic, residential and parking areas
•Athletic grounds – 97 acres including competition and practice fields, surrounded by a driving range and cross-country track
•Presidential residence – 13 acres
•Carlson-Kuyper Field Station – 62 acres
Responsibilities include: maintaining and updating 75-plus flower beds, mowing, trimming, pruning, planting, fertilizing, field preparation for events, minor field renovations and campus wide trash and snow removal. The grounds crew is also responsible for furniture moves and event setups campus wide including: weddings, conferences, banquets and concerts.
