Transcript FAQs

How do I request a transcript?

All current and former students must request transcripts online. Please visit our transcript ordering page for information about requesting transcripts. Unofficial transcripts are available only to current students via the student portal.

Can I request my transcript over the phone?

No.

What is an official transcript?

eTranscripts are digitally certified as official using Adobe’s Blue Ribbon digital certificate and are identical to the paper transcripts. A printed and mailed official transcript is printed on security paper and mailed in an envelope with the registrar’s stamp over the seal.

How do I request an electronic transcript (eTranscript)?

eTranscripts are ordered through the Parchment, Inc. ordering system. eTranscripts are only available to students who attended after 1992. Be sure to check with your intended recipient to make sure they will accept an eTranscript as official prior to ordering.

How do I request a paper transcript to be mailed?

Paper/ printed transcript orders are placed through the Parchment, Inc. ordering system.

Why can’t I find the eTranscript link when I go to the Parchment ordering system?

eTranscripts are only available to students who attended after 1992.  If you attended prior to 1993 please continue with the Parchment ordering system to request your paper transcript to be mailed or picked-up.

Isn’t an eTranscript the same thing as an emailed transcript?

No. An emailed transcript is not secure; therefore, Central College will never attach a transcript to an email message. An eTranscript is ordered through the online ordering system and sent via a secure system and digitally certified as official.

I need to attach a document to my official transcript. Can I still request my transcript online?

Yes, the Parchment ordering system allows you to attach a document to each of their ordering options (eTranscript, mailed, and pick-up). The “Order Options” area includes a place to upload a form.

Can I submit multiple transcript requests at one time?

Provided you select the same processing option on each of your orders (either send now, hold for grades, or hold for degree), you may submit more than one request in one online order.

How can I get my transcript faxed?

Central College does not fax transcripts.  Requesting an eTranscript is the quickest way to obtain your transcript.

Is there a cost for official transcripts?

When you use the Parchment ordering system, there is a fee of $3.50 per transcript.

What forms of payment are accepted for transcript orders?

The Parchment ordering system accepts Visa, MasterCard, or Discover.

When will I be charged for my online order?

You credit or debit card will be charged after the order the order is processed unless you select “Hold for grades” or “Hold for degree” in which case your card will be charged immediately.

How will the transcript charge appear on my credit card/bank statement?

Your order will appear as “Parchment.”

What is the fastest way of delivering my official transcript?

Ordering an eTranscript through the online ordering system is the fastest way to deliver or receive a transcript. Transcript orders received by 8:00 a.m., M-F will be processed by 3:00 p.m. the same day for students with no financial holds on their accounts.

What does “Hold for grades” or “Hold for degree” mean?

If you select “Hold for grades” your transcript will not be released until all of the grades are received for the term you select. If you select “Hold for degree” your transcript will not be released until after the registrar’s office posts your degree to your transcript. If you select “Hold for grades” or “Hold for degree” your card will be charged immediately.

What happens to my transcript order if I have a financial hold on my account?

Transcripts will not be released for any current or former students with an outstanding financial obligation to Central College, and you will receive email notification of a financial hold on your account. If your financial hold is not cleared within 30 days of submitting your request, your transcript request will be cancelled and your credit card will not be charged.

How long does it take to receive my transcript?

Provided you have no financial holds on your account, eTranscripts received by 8:00 a.m., M-F are typically sent by 3:00 p.m. the same day, and printed transcripts are printed and mailed within 1-2 business days. Mailed transcripts are sent via standard delivery through the US Postal Service unless overnight service is requested through the Parchment ordering system. Please allow 4-13 days for standard mail delivery of your transcript as delivery dates will vary by location. Overnight service carries a charge of $40 plus $3.50 per transcript. Same day processing for overnight service is not guaranteed. Overnight transcript requests must be made via the Parchment Inc. ordering service.

I received an email stating that my paper transcript was “delivered,” but I haven’t received it in the mail. What does “delivered” mean?

“Delivered” status on a paper transcript request order means that your transcript has been printed and mailed from the Central College registrar’s office. Please allow 4-13 days for delivery via US Postal Service depending on your location.

When creating an account in the online ordering system, I received the following error message: Our system already has a record of that email address—please try logging in with that email address. If you do not use that address any longer, you can correct it in the My Account area.” What should I do?

Parchment’s online ordering system will not allow more than one account to be tied to a specific email address. If you still use that email address, you can try using the “Forgot Password” link to have your password sent to you, and then continue using that account.

When I was a student I requested my transcript through myCentral, but now myCentral doesn’t work for me. How do I request a transcript if I am no longer enrolled?

If the first time you requested a transcript was through myCentral, you will need to create a new account on the Parchment online ordering site. Using the transcript request link for former students, select the option to create an account. The instructions on the screen will walk you through the process of creating a new account and deactivating your old one. The email address you enter and the password you create will be your login information going forward.
