Transfer Credit/AP/IB/AICE
College Credit/AP/IB/AICE Courses
Credit earned at accredited colleges or universities will be accepted in transfer if grades of at least a C are earned in the courses, and if the courses can be applied toward a Central College degree.
For students entering prior to August 2024: A maximum of 60 semester hours of transfer credit (including a maximum of 24 semester hours from AP, IB, AICE, PSEO, and dual enrollment) may be applied toward completion of a Central College degree. Vocational, technical, remedial, continuing education and military credits are not transferrable.
For students entering after August 2024: A maximum of 75 semester hours of transfer credit may be applied toward completion of a Central College degree. Thirty of the last 45 credits must be taken in residence. This may include AP, IB, AICE or dual-enrollment coursework that meets the minimum requirements. A maximum of 16 vocational/ career technical credits may transfers within the maximum of 75 hours of transfer credit applied toward the completion of a Central College degree. Remedial, continuing education and military credits are not transferrable.
- Students who earn a score of 4 or better on Advanced Placement (AP) examinations will be granted a minimum of three semester hours of credit for each subject area. AP scores must be sent directly to Central College from the College Board.
- Students who earn a score of 4 or better on International Baccalaureate (IB) higher-level examinations (subsidiary level examinations are not accepted) will be granted a minimum of three semester hours of credit for each subject area. International Baccalaureate scores must be sent directly to Central College from International Baccalaureate.
- Students who earn a grade of “C/c” or better on Cambridge Assessment International Education (AICE) will be granted four semester hours of credit for an AS Level (one-year course) and eight semester hours of credit for an A level (two-year course). AICE scores must be sent directly to Central College from the Cambridge Assessment.
